INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officer quickly apprehends armed robbery suspect after arriving on-scene of a 911 call.
Just before 9:15 p.m. on 04/20/2019, officers with the IMPD were dispatched to the 1200 block of Whitcomb Ave on reports of a 911 hang-up call. The first officer on-scene had the suspect pointed out to him by a witness as the suspect fled the scene. The officer was joined by backup units and the suspect was apprehended without incident. The suspect was later identified as Adrian Clasberry (40).
IMPD Robbery detectives responded to the scene and conducted interviews. During the investigation detectives learned that Clasberry allegedly pointed a firearm at the victim and demanded money. The victim complied and Clasberry then fled. Detectives were able to develop probable cause for the arrest of Clasberry. A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle Clasberry was driving and detectives recovered a firearm that was allegedly used in the robbery.
Clasberry was arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of a firearm by a Serious Violent Felon. Clasberry was later transported to the Main Jail. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case and make a charging decision.
Introduced to the community earlier this month, the Crime Gun Intelligence Center (CGIC) is an interagency collaboration that puts officers in direct contact with local and federal law enforcement partners. The CGIC model focuses on the collection and real-time analysis of crime gun evidence from homicides and non-fatal shootings using forensic technologies to generate investigative leads, allowing IMPD to more effectively target the most violent offenders and their sources of crime guns. This crackdown on the illegal possession of firearms by Serious Violent Felons is part of the City’s community-focused violence reduction strategy.
