Adventure Begins at Your Library Summer Reading Programs in Hendricks County

Summer 2024’s Summer Reading theme is “Adventure Begins At Your Library” and you don’t want to miss out on participating in your local library’s summer reading programs where you are rewarded for reading.

Avon Washington Township Public Library

You can register for their summer reading program and earn prizes like candy, free books, stuffed animals, and more!

Brownsburg Public Library

Register for the 2024 Summer Reading Challenge that is open to all ages, just log one hour of reading (or early literacy activities for the little-littles) per week to earn weekly rewards and enter weekly raffles

Danville Center Township Library

Get registered and pick up your registration gift and summer reading packet at the library. Complete challenges to earn rewards throughout the summer. Participants will be invited to an end of summer celebration!

Plainfield Guilford Township Public Library

To participate in the Summer Reading Club, just track reading times at home to earn prizes and raffle tickets throughout the summer. Children and teens can attend a special completion party at the end of the Summer Reading Club. Adults also earn a free book for registering for the Summer Reading Club. You can also attend library programs to earn extra raffle tickets. Turn in reading logs to earn prizes and raffle tickets throughout the summer!

Paws and Think

Paws and Think is a nonprofit organization whose mission is “improving lives through the power of the human-dog connection.” Paws and Think volunteers visit the different libraries in Hendricks County with their trained therapy dogs to help encourage children to read, by providing a safe place for children to build confidence by reading to the dogs. Pecar Park will have an outdoor story time with Paws and Think with Stella the Great Dane and our volunteer Gale Hansen while they read “The Busy Tree” by Jennifer Ward.

Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Free Book Event

Barnes & Noble is kicking off its 23rd annual Summer Reading Program, where kids in grades one through six can earn a free book by reading 8 books and completing a Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Journal to return to their local store between August 1 and August 31. The free book selection includes over 30 titles ranging from beginning reader books to chapter books, and includes favorite characters such as Fancy Nancy, Judy Moody, Pete the Cat and many more popular names.
