Female who assaulted a police officer during a shoplifting incident at a local grocery store has been arrested

IMPDINDIANAPOLIS – Detectives have arrested 45-year-old Juanita Scanlan of Indianapolis and preliminarily charged her with resisting law enforcement, theft and unauthorized entry of a vehicle.

The suspect was apprehended the same afternoon in the 1700 E. 77th St. inside an uninvolved vehicle, and taken into custody without further incident. The suspect was suffering from a laceration to her foot that prevented her from walking and was subsequently transported to Eskenazi Hospital in good condition. The suspect was later identified as the female that assaulted and resisted the officer at the Krogers. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review this case for charging decision.
