INDIANAPOLIS – Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) quickly arrest two suspects after a shooting death on the East side of Indianapolis.Shortly before 3 p.m. on May 31st, IMPD officers responded to a person shot in the 6100 block of East 11th Street. Officers found 45-year-old Erbie Thompson with trauma to his head and a gunshot wound near his hip. Thompson was alert and conscious as he was being transported to Eskenazi Hospital. Thompson was downgraded to critical condition and rushed to surgery. Despite the best life-saving efforts of the medical staff at the hospital, Thompson was pronounced deceased at 7 p.m.
Homicide detectives learned this shooting may have stemmed from an attempted robbery. Witnesses were able to provide detectives a description of the suspects and the vehicle in which they fled from the shooting. Undercover detectives from the gang unit and the violent crime unit were able to arrest 33-year-old Jeremiah Walker and 33-year-old Jessica Figueiredo for their alleged involvement in the death of Erbie Thompson. Both Walker and Figueiredo were preliminarily arrested for Murder. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review this case for a charging decision. Both suspects were transported to the Arrestee Processing Center.
