Completion of Plainfield Art Installation Wraps Up Hues of Hendricks’ Inaugural Year

DANVILLE, IN (December 17, 2025) – An ambitious project that brought together multiple local organizations, communities and artists from around the world recently completed its first year.

The Hues of Hendricks County, a partnership between the Hendricks County Arts Collective, Visit Hendricks County, the Indy Arts Council and multiple other entities, brought five vibrant public art installations to communities across the county, enhancing cultural pride, fostering community engagement and revitalizing public spaces. The final installation was completed earlier this month in Plainfield.

Renowned national artists transformed outdoor spaces in Coatesville, Danville, Lizton, North Salem and Plainfield, as part of this first-ever public art initiative. Each work of art was deeply connected to its location in unique ways.

“We are incredibly proud to play a role in a project that has had a transformative impact on our communities,” said Jaime Bohler Smith, Executive Director/CEO of Visit Hendricks County. “The vibrant public art installations have not only enhanced local pride but have also revitalized the spaces around us.”

More than 40 artists worldwide applied to be part of the program. The five artists selected had extensive experience from previous public art installations. The artists included: Anthony Brooks, Angie Jerez, Andrey Kravtsov, Andrea Myers and Efren Rebugio, Jr.

The $180,000 project was made possible through a matching grant from the statewide Indiana READI 180 in Color program, managed through the Indy Arts Council and 180 Alliance for public art, to revitalize downtowns with vibrant, inclusive art. The local match for those dollars included contributions from the Indy Arts Council ($30,000), Visit Hendricks County ($25,000), the Hendricks County Community Foundation through the Smithville Charitable Foundation Endowment Fund ($14,000), Main Street Plainfield ($4,000) and the Downtown Danville Partnership ($3,000). The Hendricks County Arts Collective also spent countless hours and energy organizing and planning the project.

A second installment of the Hues of Hendricks County initiative is in the planning stages for 2026. An announcement should come during the first quarter of next year.
