Visit Hendricks County Expands Staff Adding Philip Deiwert as New Director (VP) of Destination Development

Philip Deiwert

DANVILLE, IN (Feb. 25, 2025) – Visit Hendricks County (VHC) announced this week that Philip Deiwert is joining its team in a newly created position, Director (VP) of Destination Development. In his role, Deiwert will focus on building a more appealing and competitive destination through programming, investments and other quality-of-place initiatives as identified in the recent strategic plan adopted by the Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Inc. Board of Directors.

Deiwert previously served the past six years as Executive Director at Visit Greensburg.

“I’m so excited to join the Visit Hendricks County team and continue to grow and develop professionally and have the opportunity to do my part in helping make Hendricks County a great place to live, work and visit,” Deiwert said.

Immediate Destination Development Priorities

“We are very excited to add a dedicated staff member to focus on creating and executing a destination development plan, while also acting as a resource for facilitating destination development,” said Jaime Bohler Smith, Executive Director/CEO of VHC.

The organization recently finalized their new mission, vision and strategic pillars that will guide the future of tourism in Hendricks County and give a better experience to both residents and visitors.

About Deiwert

Deiwert is a graduate of Hanover College and the University of Toledo College of Law, where he passed the Ohio bar exam but never practiced law. He started his tourism career at Visit Greensburg in 2019 but started his trajectory toward tourism and community development after joining the Main Street Greensburg board of directors in 2017.

“I love the tourism industry and love the positive impact it enables us to have on our communities,” Deiwert stated. “I believe strongly in Maura Gast’s theory that it all starts with a visit — that tourism is the first step in economic development, and a community that has strong quality-of-life assets is one that is better for both residents and visitors alike.”

He was designated a Certified Indiana Tourism Professional (CITP) upon successful completion of the Indiana Tourism Academy in its inaugural year 2022-23 and will continue to serve on the ITA Advocacy Committee.

Deiwert was born and raised in Greensburg though he did live in Hendricks County previously while his wife, Aimee, completed her pediatrics residency at Riley Hospital for Children.
