The Hendricks County Community Foundation Awards Grants to the Avon-Washington Township Library

The Community Foundation recently awarded two grants to the Avon-Washington Township Library to support operations. The first grant, in the amount of $293, will support the maintenance of the Huron Heritage Room’s Avon High School yearbook collection, while the second grant, in the amount of $4258, will support programs and equipment that may not be covered by the library’s Operating Fund.

The Avon High School yearbook collection is an important part of the library’s local history resources, providing a glimpse into the lives and experiences of past generations of students in the area. The grant will enable the library to carry out essential preservation work on the collection and expand the current collection in support of preserving local history.

As a vital resource for the community, the Avon-Washington Township Public Library plays an important role in promoting literacy and lifelong learning. These grants will help the library to maintain and enhance its services, ensuring that it can continue to meet the evolving needs of its patrons.  Laurel Setser, Director of the Avon-Washington Township Library commented, “We are delighted to receive these grants, which will allow us to continue to preserve local history and provide essential services, from early literacy programs to adult education and beyond. We are committed to providing our patrons with the resources they need to succeed, and these grants will help us achieve these goals. We are grateful to the Hendricks County Community Foundation for their ongoing support and recognition of the vital role that libraries play in the community.”
