Hendricks County Sherriff’s Department investigating after 2-year-old accidentally shoots mother west of Danville.

The Hendricks County Sherriff’s Department along with Child Protective Services are investigating after a 2-year-old accidentally shot his mother this morning.

Sherriff’s Deputies were called to the 6400 block of West US Highway 36 in Marion Township west of Danville this morning around 9:20 am on a report of a person shot.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a 2-year-old child (male) located a semi-automatic pistol within his home and shot his 40-year-old mother.  A 5-year-old sibling was also at home at the time of the incident and called for help for their mother.

Both children were not injured during the incident.  The mother was transported to an Indianapolis hospital and is now said to be in stable condition.
