Indiana Department of Education Congratulates Indiana Recipient of U.S. Department of Education’s Green Ribbon Schools Award

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Education today congratulated Hamilton Southeastern Schools for receiving the U.S. Department of Education’s Green Ribbon Schools Award.

“Preparing children for a successful future means teaching lessons both inside and outside the classroom,” said State Superintendent Dr. Jennifer McCormick. “I congratulate Hamilton Southeastern Schools for creating an atmosphere stressing the importance of personal and external sustainability through physical wellbeing and environmental care and concern.”

The Green Ribbon Schools recognition award honors schools that are exemplary in reducing environmental impact and costs; improving the health and wellness of students and staff; and providing effective environmental and sustainability education, which incorporates STEM, civic skills, and green career pathways. In total, 55 schools nationally received the 2020 award.
