23 Hendricks County Schools Labeled as Four Star Schools

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Education announced last week their 2016-2017 Four Star Schools. The Four Star Schools designation is designed by the Department to recognize great schools in Indiana.

“Receiving designation as a Four Star School signifies a pursuit of academic excellence among students, educators, and the administration,” said Dr. Jennifer McCormick, Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction. “I am honored to recognize these Four Star Schools for their hard work and dedication in preparing their students for a bright and prosperous future.”

The Four Star School Award has been in existence for 30 years. To receive Four Star designation, a school must receive an “A” on the state’s A-F accountability system, have excellent ISTEP pass rates, carry an overall high graduation rate (if applicable), and show success in closing achievement gaps. A total of 238 schools received the award.

There were 23 Hendricks County School that received the Four Star designation. They were:

Saint Malachy School – Brownsburg

Avon High School – Avon Community School Corporation

Maple Elementary School – Avon Community School Corporation

Pine Tree Elementary School – Avon Community School Corporation

Sycamore Elementary School – Avon Community School Corporation

Brown Elementary School – Brownsburg Community School Corporation

Brownsburg East Middle School – Brownsburg Community School Corporation

Brownsburg High School – Brownsburg Community School Corporation

Brownsburg West Middle School – Brownsburg Community School Corporation

Cardinal Elementary School – Brownsburg Community School Corporation

Delaware Trail Elementary School – Brownsburg Community School Corporation

Eagle Elementary School – Brownsburg Community School Corporation

Reagan Elementary School – Brownsburg Community School Corporation

White Lick Elementary School – Brownsburg Community School Corporation

South Elementary School – Danville Community School Corporation

Clarks Creek Elementary School – Plainfield Community School Corporation

Plainfield Community Middle School – Plainfield Community School Corporation

Plainfield High School – Plainfield Community School Corporation

Van Buren Elementary School – Plainfield Community School Corporation

North Salem Elementary School – Northwest Hendricks School Corporation

Pittsboro Elementary School – Northwest Hendricks School Corporation

Tri-West Middle School – Northwest Hendricks School Corporation

Cascade High School – Mill Creek Community School Corporation

Criteria to be included on this list:

• A school must have received an “A” for the 2016-2017 school year.

• A school must have tested at least 95% of students on ISTEP English/Language Arts and Math.

• Grade 3-8 & Grade 10 combined ISTEP Pass Percentage (Pass Percentage of English/Language Arts ISTEP + Pass Percentage of Math ISTEP) must be in Top 25th Percentile for each grade tested. (minimum of 10 students).

• Grade 3-8 & Grade 10 Percent Passing Both ISTEP (Percent of students who passed both the English/Language Arts ISTEP + Math ISTEP) must be in the Top 25th Percentile. (minimum of 10 students).
