Garreth W. Crumpton

As Officer Stump requested the driver’s license and related paperwork, the driver only gave a verbal reply and provided no actual driver’s license documentation. Master Trooper Jason Schoffstall arrived to assist, and further investigation at the scene, along with a phone call to the California based trucking company, the officers were able to identify the driver as 26-year-old Garreth W. Crumpton of Long Island, New York.

A routine computer inquiry revealed Crumpton was wanted on a felony warrant for Larceny from the state of Colorado. Crumpton was taken into custody and incarcerated in the Vigo County Jail on the Colorado warrant, along with a local charge of False Informing.

The tractor-trailer was placed out of service for tire violations. The semi was hauling refrigerated items from California to New York.

Also assisting were Vigo County Sheriff’s Deputy Larry Hopper and K-9 “Gnash”.

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
