Rokita fights to eliminate funding for Planned Parenthood

Washington, DC – Rep. Rokita (IN-04) issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 3134, the Defund Planned Parenthood Act, a bill Rep. Rokita cosponsored:

 “All life is sacred and I will not turn a blind eye to this callous disregard for it.  This bill ends Planned Parenthood’s exploitation of federal funds while investigations into these horrific activities continue.  Taxpayer funding for this organization should cease.  This bill is a solid step in that direction.  I will continue fighting to ensure no more federal dollars subsidize Planned Parenthood’s destruction of innocent lives,” said Rep. Rokita.

In light of numerous videos depicting the horrific sale of fetal body parts, H.R. 3134 places a moratorium on all federal funding for Planned Parenthood for one year while the organization’s activities are investigated.  This moratorium prohibits the use of any mandatory or discretionary funds by Planned Parenthood, affiliates, or associated clinics.  The bill passed 241 to 187 with 1 present.
