INDIANAPOLIS – The Downtown IMAX Theater in the Indiana State Museum was the top performing IMAX screen in the state of Indiana for “Top Gun: Maverick.” The theater, located in White River State Park, was tops in tickets sold for each individual week and the entire cumulative run of the movie.
“Hoosiers are returning to the movies and, as home to the state’s largest movie screen, there is no better place to see a film than our IMAX,” said Jake Oakman, White River State Park executive director.
For “Top Gun: Maverick,” the IMAX partnered with Leadership in Flight Training (LIFT) Academy to bring flight simulators into the theater lobby for guests to experience and partnered with Hotel Tango to provide Top Gun-themed cocktails.
“Our IMAX team partners with local organizations and businesses to enhance the movie-going experience, so there’s always something new happening at the theater,” Oakman added.
“Top Gun: Maverick” is currently the highest grossing film of 2022 and will return to the Downtown IMAX for July 4 weekend. Tickets can be purchased here.
The theater’s success carried over to “Jurassic World: Dominion.” The IMAX Theater in the Indiana State Museum was the only theater in Indianapolis to host a live Q&A event with cast members Jeff Goldblum, Bryce Dallas Howard, and DeWanda Wise as well as screenwriter Emily Carmichael and Director Colin Trevorrow.
A Jurassic Park Jeep was displayed in the IMAX lobby and a specialty cocktail was sold.
Upcoming movies include “Minions: The Rise of Gru,” “Nope,” and “Thor: Love and Thunder.”
