STATEHOUSE (March 25, 2026) – Hendricks County lawmakers recently welcomed local students to the Statehouse where they participated in the Indiana House Page Program during the 2026 legislative session.
“Interactive learning experiences like the House page program are so beneficial for students,” said State Rep. Greg Steuerwald (R-Avon). “They get to meet their state representative, have an in-depth look of the Statehouse and witness how ideas are debated and turned into laws.”
State Rep. Jeff Thompson (R-Lizton) said as a page, students interacted with lawmakers and staff, toured the Statehouse and joined lawmakers on the House floor to watch the legislative session.
“As a former teacher, I know how much opportunities like this program complement what students are learning in the classroom,” Thompson said. “I always appreciate it when young Hoosiers serve as pages, and hopefully they’re inspired to engage more in their communities.”
These area students served as pages during the 2026 legislative session:
- Ikeoluwa Adedeji, from Indianapolis, who attends Ben Davis University High School;
- Ainsley Cardwell, from Indianapolis, who attends Avon Middle School North;
- Anastasia Lampropoulou, from Brownsburg, who attends Brownsburg High School;
- Melany Ramos-Figueroa, from Indianapolis, who attends Avon High School;
- Gibson Rentschler, from Brownsburg, who is a home-schooled student;
- Chase Secord, from Brownsburg, who attends Bethesda Christian School; and
- Chloe and Olivia Wheat, from Brownsburg, who attend Brownsburg High School.
“We are always looking for those who could potentially lead our state’s future and paging is a great first step to learning about government and civic engagement,” said State Rep. Becky Cash (R-Zionsville). “I would greatly encourage all students to join us next year, as we will also be discussing the state’s biennial budget.”
