INDIANAPOLIS – Detectives investigate an attempted robbery after lone suspect forces his way into apartment and tries to rob two occupants of the unit.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 700 blk. of Lockefield Street just after 4:30 p.m. on a robbery of a person. Officers were notified that an unknown male was attempting to rob two residents of the apartment. When officers arrived, they found two victims who told them that a suspect had tried to rob them and then fled the building after they (victims) fought the suspect off. The victims told officers that they heard a knock at the door, and of them opened the door to see what the male suspect wanted. The suspect pushed his way through the front door brandishing a firearm. During the robbery attempt, the victims believed that the firearm was fake and made a decision to fight the suspect off. The victims attacked the suspect of which spilled out into the hallway of the apartment building. One of the victims was slightly injured as a result of the fist fight between the suspect and victims, and the suspect did not get away with any of the victims’ property.
Detectives continue to follow-up on several promising leads but have not yet published a reliable suspect description. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS.
