Washington, DC–Congressman Todd Rokita stands with President Trump in recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and taking action to move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to the capital.
“Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and the United States embassy rightfully should reside there. While presidents from both parties have called for this recognition of Israel, President Trump is the first president to take action. President Trump and I are strong allies of Israel and I will continue working to maintain and enhance this relationship.”
President Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel on Wednesday. While the U.S. embassy will not immediately relocate from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, the State Department will start creating plans for this move. Representative Rokita had previously cosponsored H.R. 257, the Recognition of Jerusalem as the Capital of the State of Israel Act.
