AT&T Boosts Network in Indianapolis, Avon, Greenwood, Lawrence and Noblesville

Indianapolis, Ind.,  AUG.  14, 2015AT&T1 has added six cell towers in the Indianapolis area to give residents and businesses faster, more reliable wireless service.  Two of the new cell towers are located in Indianapolis with four others in Avon, Greenwood, Lawrence and Noblesville.

The locations of the new cell sites are near:

  • East Edgewod Avenue and U.S. 31, Indianapolis
  • Georgetown Road and West 76th Street, Indianapolis
  • 53rd Street and North Richardt Avenue, Lawrence
  • North County Road 900 East and U.S. Highway 36, Avon
  • West Smith Valley Road and U.S. 31, Greenwood
  • 146th Street and State Road 37, Noblesville

The six cell towers also have been enhanced with new layers of frequency or “carriers.” It’s like adding more lanes to a highway carrying traffic from a customer’s device to the cell tower, so they get faster speeds and more reliable service.

“New and upgraded infrastructure like this delivers benefits such as enhanced public safety, access to improved education, health care and economic development opportunities,” said Noblesville Mayor John Ditslear.  “This is just the latest example of AT&T proving itself to be a key community partner.”

“Strong, reliable wireless connectivity can make a community more attractive for new investment and development,” said Indy Chamber President and CEO Michael Huber.  “As always, we’re thrilled to see AT&T’s continued commitment to Central Indiana.”

The new expansion will help customers get the most out of their mobile devices if they’re watching videos, posting pictures to social media or texting family and friends. AT&T launched its 4G LTE network in Indianapolis in Nov. 2011.

“We want our customers to have a great experience, and now they’ll have a faster, more reliable way to get information on the go,” said Bill Soards, president of AT&T Indiana. “As part of the Central Indiana community, we’re always looking for new ways to provide better coverage, and we’re investing in the local wireless network to accomplish that.”

AT&T has invested nearly $375 million in its wireless and wired networks in the Indianapolis area between 2012 through 2014, driving a wide range of upgrades to enhance reliability, coverage, speed and performance for residents and business customers.
