Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate overnight homicide; 15 year-old Brownsburg teen arrested

Brownsburg – At approximately 4:38pm on 3/5/24, Hendricks County Deputies were dispatched to the report of an unknown type of vehicle collision, where the vehicle had reportedly struck a residence near Eagle Crossing Dr and Memorial Knoll Dr near Brownsburg. When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered a Honda Civic that had struck the rear of a house. The residents that were inside the home at the time of the crash were not injured.

Upon inspection of the vehicle, deputies located the victim, who was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle. He has been preliminarily identified as a 20 year old Indianapolis man who appeared to sustain a gunshot wound in his torso. That victim has since been identified as 20 year old Carlos Neri-Guzman of Indianapolis. Emergency life-saving efforts were rendered, but Neri-Guzman was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators continued their diligent work through the night. As a result of this continuing investigation, detectives developed a suspect in the case.

At approximately 2:00am on 3/6/24 a search warrant was executed at a residence on McClain Dr with the assistance of the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team. The suspect, a 15 year old male from Brownsburg, was located and taken into custody. He is preliminarily being held at a juvenile facility for the criminal offenses of Murder and Dangerous Possession of a Firearm. The motivation for this crime is still part of an ongoing investigation.

The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office is deeply saddened by this tragic and senseless loss of human life.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
