Body recovered from Ohio River

Indiana Conservation Officers assisted in the recovery of a woman’s body today on the Ohio River near Mt. Vernon, Indiana.  The body recovered is of a female, but her identity at this time is unknown.

Marrs Township Fire Department was able to get to the victim at 11:50 am and the Posey County Coroner took possession of the body.  An autopsy is scheduled to take place tomorrow at 9 a.m.

EMA Directors along the Ohio River are being contacted to try and find a possible identification of the victim. 

Responding agencies included the Posey County Sherriff’s Department, Posey County EMS, Posey County Coroner’s Office, Marrs Township Fire Department Water Rescue, Black Township Fire Department, Mt. Vernon Transfer Terminal, American Rivers Transportation Corporation and Indiana Conservation Officers.
