Plainfield Announces New Director of Hendricks County Communications Center

PLAINFIELD, IN – The Town of Plainfield is excited to announce that Doug Burris has been promoted to the Director of Hendricks County Communications Center (HCCC). Burris stepped into the Interim Director role in January of 2019. Previously, Burris served as the Deputy Director for HCCC since 2011. As Director of Hendricks County Communications Center, Doug will be responsible for the management and operations for the 911 communications for the entire county.

“Doug has over 18 years of experience in Public Safety and we are proud to have him stepping into this role after 10 years with the Hendricks County Communications Center,” said Town Manager, Andrew Klinger.

Doug Burris

Burris was born in Illinois and raised in Iowa. He moved to Indiana in 2000 after graduating from Iowa State University with his Bachelors of Science degree. Doug previously worked for the Indianapolis Fire Department and the Metropolitan Emergency Communications Agency (MECA) before joining the Hendricks County Communications Center’s team in 2008.

“Doug has thrived in the role of Interim Director over the last few months and we know he will continue to lead the department, on behalf of the entire county, in a positive direction,” said Council President, Robin Brandgard. “It is exciting to see Town employees grow into greater roles in their tenure here, and Doug is just another example of that.”

Personally, Burris lives in Plainfield, with his wife Jen and his 3 kids. Doug enjoys the outdoors – baseball, kayaking, hiking, and going on little adventures with the family. Burris says his skill level does not warrant the title “golfer”, but says he also likes chasing that little white ball around with his friends.
