INDIANAPOLIS – On February 8, 2019 an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Southwest District officer was involved in a crash at W. Washington St. and N. Raceway Rd.
Just before 11:00p.m. an IMPD officer was traveling north on Raceway road in his marked police vehicle. The officer had been dispatched to the area to locate a vehicle who slid off the roadway. At the same time, a red vehicle was traveling south on Raceway road. The red vehicle driven by Anthony Weeden (52) crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and struck the IMPD police vehicle head on.
The officer sustained minor injuries and was transported to Methodist hospital for medical treatment where he was later released. Anthony Weeden was transported to Eskenazi in stable condition where a PBT was administered to the driver. Anthony Weeden was arrested on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Drunk driving is a serious offense that can lead to terrible accidents where lives are lost. Don’t drink and drive.
