One of WYRZ’s missions is to help aspiring broadcasters gain real world experience in a working radio station. Here they learn some of the ins and outs of the radio industry as well as observing how things work from behind the scenes. WYRZ also provides our interns with an opportunity to actually get behind the microphone and host their own show!
Welcome our newest intern Kam Skobel and read on as he introduces himself to the WYRZ audience:
“My name is Kam Skobel, and I live in Boone County and I am a senior at Lebanon High School. I have two siblings, one brother and one sister, both of which are older. I played soccer all four years of high school and played basketball up until my senior year.
Things I like to do outside of school consist of hanging out with my friends, video games, eating out, and spending my mom’s money. After I graduate, I plan to go to college to continue my athletic career for soccer, and also major in mass communications which is why WRYZ sparked my interests.
As far as mass communications went, I didn’t know a whole lot so I thought I’d try out radio for this semester, and it turned out to be very fun. I also love to talk even when nobody wants me to just ask my teachers if you don’t believe me. Sometimes if I’m lucky Shane will even give me a history lesson. Granted I don’t always know what he’s talking about, but I at least know the topic we’re talking about.
I hope to learn even more from this experience, so I can be sure that this is what I want to do in college and after that.”
