IndyGo Recognized Nationally for Strong Security Program

INDIANAPOLIS (January 15, 2019) – Recognizing IndyGo’s commitment to rider safety and security, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has awarded IndyGo its “Gold Standard” security rating.

The Gold Standard is the highest rating given through the Baseline Assessment for Security Enhancement (BASE) program, a voluntary assessment that includes a review of transit agencies’ security plans, security training, drills/exercise programs, public outreach and background check programs.

Developed to meet the requirements in the 9/11 Commission Act’s security assessment section, the BASE program ensures response preparedness and enhances prevention and protection capabilities.

“I am proud of my team that works to ensure the daily safety of our riders and employees,” said Mike Terry, president and CEO. “We take that responsibility seriously.” The Transportation Security Administration is part of the United States Department of Homeland Security.
