DESCRIPTION:PLAINFIELD\, Ind. – Franciscan Health is hosting a pair of free seminars this month\, first in Plainfield Oct. 23 and then in Greenwood Oct. 28\, aimed at helping patients and their caregivers learn more about atrial fibrillation\, commonly known as AFib. \n\n\n\nThe heart is the center of the body’s electrical activity and when the heart’s electrical system malfunctions\, it may signal AFib. Arrhythmias like AFib can cause lightheadedness or the feeling of butterflies in the chest and can increase the risk of stroke. \n\n\n\nAttendees will learn about common signs and symptoms of AFib that should not be ignored\, as well as understanding personal risk factors and discovering the latest treatment options to stay healthy. \n\n\n\nIn addition\, those in attendance will learn how lifestyle changes and treatment options can reduce complications. \n\n\n\nThe first AFib seminar is Thursday\, Oct. 23 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Guilford Township Library in Plainfield\, led by cardiologist and expert electrophysiologist\, Dr. Ahmed Shim. \n\n\n\nAttendees at the Plainfield seminar will receive a complimentary light meal and free gift. \n\n\n\nThe Greenwood seminar is Tuesday\, Oct. 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Greenwood Fieldhouse and led by Dr. Sharath Vipparthy\, also a cardiologist and expert electrophysiologist. \n\n\n\nAttendees at the Greenwood seminar will receive a complimentary light meal\, free gift and interactive experiences\, including a golf simulator. \n\n\n\nThe Guilford Township Library is located at 1120 Stafford Road in Plainfield. \n\n\n\nRegister here for the Plainfield seminar. \n\n\n\nThe Greenwood Fieldhouse is located at 411 South Madison Avenue in Greenwood. \n\n\n\nRegister here for the Greenwood seminar.
