Plainfield Package Theft Suspects Arrested in Johnson County

On December 1st and 2nd the Plainfield Police Department took several reports of package thefts involving a male and female suspect driving a white Ford Explorer in Plainfield neighborhoods.

On December 5th, 2017 at approximately 5:25am the Princes Lake Police Department observed a vehicle matching the description from security footage submitted by a resident from the previous day’s thefts.  A traffic stop was conducted and two suspects were detained.  Through further investigation over the next several days, it was found that Koty Hopkins, 28, of Mooresville, and Christina Baker, 28, of Martinsville were linked to mail and package thefts in four counties.  Hopkins and Baker were taken into custody in Johnson County and are facing charges for several offenses. 

This investigation subsequently led Plainfield investigators to charge Hopkins with five counts of Theft and Baker with five counts of Theft.

This investigation is ongoing with other local and federal agencies.

Plainfield Police Department maintains that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
