Investigation continues into Fort Harrison State Park shooting incident

Indiana Conservation Officers are continuing their investigation into a shooting incident Saturday night at Fort Harrison State Park that left three people injured.

The three injured people – two males age 18 and an 18-year-old female – were taken to local hospitals and were listed in stable condition.

The incident occurred at the Col. Root House, where witnesses say an estimated 150-200 people were attending a party. The two-story house is one of the park’s four historic officer homes that are available for rent.

Lawrence Police Department received a 911 call shortly after 11 p.m. and responded along with Conservation Officers from the DNR Division of Law Enforcement. The park and nearby facilities – The Garrison and The Fort Golf Resort – were temporarily closed Sunday morning but reopened before 11 a.m.

Conservation Officers served multiple search warrants at the scene and recovered two firearms and other evidence.

Conservation Officers are pursuing multiple leads and urge anyone with information to call 262-TIPS.
