Have you visited our Alpha Shelter lately? It’s located adjacent to Williams Park and the Maple Ridge Trail, and now it’s also adjacent to our new Outdoor Classroom!
This new park feature encourages users to connect to nature through programs, workshops and other activities. The classroom will help visitors enjoy the health benefits of outdoor play, and will encourage positive stewardship of our environment.
Our fabulous grounds crew created the stage and bench seating from the reclaimed wood of trees that had to be removed from our parks due to the Emerald Ash Borer. We couldn’t be more proud of the incredible craftsmanship of our staff!
While the stage and seating will be used immediately for nature workshops and programs for all ages, more features are on the way.
Young and old alike will enjoy sensory features including water, sand, dirt and plants to have a truly interactive experience with nature.
Once the classroom is complete it also will include a playground, pollinator and rain gardens.
